Conway MO Dog Breeding Facility Shut Down for Animal Welfare Violations
(Conway, MO) — Missouri’s attorney general has secured a
court order to shut down a dog breeding operation accused of violating
animal-welfare laws.
Chris Koster said today he pursued
the injunction on claims Lori Goss and her business — A-Lick-A-Hope Kennels in
Conway — failed to, among other things:
-Clean and sanitize the premises or
provide adequate space for dogs
-Provide clean, dry bedding and wind-
and rain-breaks to shield dogs from the elements
-Provide shelter that protected
animals from injury
-Provide adequate veterinary care to
animals with medical issues
The defendants were also fined
$1,000 and ordered to pay court costs.
“The message is clear,”
says Dr. John Hagler, Director of Agriculture, in a statement. “Missouri pet breeders take animal welfare
seriously and those who don’t will soon find themselves out of busines. I am
proud of the Animal Care team’s efforts and the continued cooperation of the
Attorney General in addressing substandard breeders.”
